General Information
When Rats and Mice are found, there is generally food, water and shelter are available for them. Rats usually live in drains and sewers and may only be visible if the drainage system becomes damaged. If this is the case, repairing the fault is important. Mice can enter buildings from very small gaps (gaps small enough to insert a pencil into). It is important to block or seal all gaps as they may be entry points for mice. Please contact for Catchers Pest Control for a free advice on prevention measures.
- Brown Rat droppings are dark brown in a tapered, spindle shape – like a grain of rice.
- Grease and dirt on their bodies leaves smudges on surfaces.
- Black rats are agile climbers and often found in lofts. You might notice gnaw marks on wires, cabling or items stored in the loft .
- Brown rats, look for digging and extensive burrow systems for shelter, food storage and nesting.
- Rats shred available materials such as loft insulation. These include cardboard and other soft items to make nests.
- Rats leave foot and tail marks in dusty, less-used areas of buildings.
Treatment of Rodents
We will place small trays or boxes of rodenticide poison in any affected areas. Sometimes you may find that rodents may not eat the bait straightaway. You must ensure that rodents eat the poison. To do this you must ensure all rubbish and food waste has been removed. We also advise you to not feed birds during the treatment period. This is a food source for rodents. We advise dog/cat food be removed after feeding your pets. Bins and skips should be kept covered. As rodents require water, any leaks should be repaired..
Trapping methods are also used ,baited traps etc are a successful method of eradicating rodents.
Please note:
The rodenticide method of treatment may require several visits for it to be successful.
You must ensure that you are available at the address for all booked appointments.
It is important that you do not move or interfere with any of the poison baits.
